A Few Books...

I have read a couple books since finishing Devil in the White City and I don't really know why I haven't written about them.  I think I haven't been that excited by the books I have read.  Nothing has been SO SO good that I have to write about.  But here's a little blurb about each of the books I have read.

I have read a couple of books by Kristin Hannah.  I usually choose her books when I am in the mood for something a little easier to read and maybe something a little happier to read.  I read Winter Garden after finishing Devil in the White City because I needed something happy to read.  Little did I know, this book was not very happy.  I liked reading this story and will continue to read her books every once and awhile.

This is a story about two sisters and their relationship with their mother.  One sister chose to stick around home and take over the family business, while the other sister has fled the coup and is a photographer in Africa.  Their father passes away causing the sisters to come together to start to care for their mother.  Unfortunately they do not have a good relationship with her.  The mother shut them out when they were little girls.  As the story unfolds you learn why the mother has shut them out.  The author takes you on a great journey about the two sisters finally developing  relationship with their mother.  This kind of book makes you appreciate what you have.  I do recommend it... It was a page turner at the end because I really wanted to know how it ended!

Another book I read was called Bound South.  Every time I go to Target I make sure to stop in the book section of the store to check out what they have.  I have always been a fan of their book selection and can always find something I want to read.  I found this book in their section for the Target Book Club.  I have read a few books from the book club and have enjoyed all of them.

Bound South is a story told from the point of views of three southern ladies.  Two of the ladies are mother and daughter.  The mother is trying to make her way in southern society.  Her daughter decides to run away and get away from the southern life.  The third lady is the daughter of the mother's house keeper.  These are three very random women to be put together in the story.  Or so I thought.  As you read you learn a lot more about these ladies and why the author decided to choose these three ladies as the main characters.

Again, this was not a book I LOVED, but I do recommend it.  It kept my attention enough that I finished the story.  Each chapter is kind of it's own story and they are funny stories.  Enjoy the books!  Right now I am reading Mildred Pierce.  I love to read books that have been made into movies.  I only chose this book I am reading now because I want to see Kate Winslet perform as Mildred Pierce.

Coming soon I have some recipes I am going to share.  I've slacked the last week or so.  But I am making some new recipes this week, all thanks to Pinterest.
