Life has been SO busy!

Wow, it really has been awhile since I've been on here.  Blogging is always in the back of my mind, but life has been so busy lately.  The last time I posted was at the end of October, and now it is the end of December.  Time sure seems to be flying by.

Since the end of October:
  • I have officially survived the first half of my first year of teaching!
  • Chris is still doing the same old, same old :)
  • Zac Brown Band Concert
  • Thanksgiving Break
  • Two Trips to Colorado... one was a total bust :(
  • Packers vs. Chiefs Football Game
  • Winter Break: Christmas and lots of family time
  • The Hawks lose the Insight Bowl
  • Many recipes made
  • Overload of cookies made their way into our house :-/
  • I've only had time to read a couple of books...
Busy Busy.  Every weekend since Thanksgiving has been busy with travel or family time and I feel like there hasn't even been a chance for Chris and I to breath.  About half way through December I even had to take sick day because my body was so worn out.  But that's ok, I've truly enjoyed the busy life we've been leading while I'm even more excited for some low key weekends to come.

At the beginning of December we took a quick weekend trip to Colorado to visit some great friends, Nick and Kate!  We love going out to visit them and it always goes so fast.  We got there on Friday night and enjoyed some pizza, and we are getting so old, that's all we did!  We went to bed after that.  These late nights are not happening anymore, it's pathetic.  Anyway....

On Saturday we woke up to a snow storm!  Of course that would happen when our plan was to go up into the mountains to go skiing for the day.  We decided to go ahead and venture into the mountains because it was snowing in Denver, but not in the mountains.  Ironic.  We finally made it to Loveland Pass and got some skiing in.  We had a blast skiing with Nick and Kate!  Here are some pictures:

Me and the hubby!

We ended the day with some hot chocolate... It was SO cold in the mountains and Denver.  It only got to about 20 degrees.  I did not bring enough layers as it was in the 40s back in Des Moines.

After a great day of skiing we got to meet some more friends that live in Denver for dinner.  We can't believe how many our friends live in Denver, but it is always nice to see everyone in one place.  We have more friends talking about how they would love to live in Denver.  On Sunday we had time to workout and then grab some brunch before heading to the airport.  Nick and Kate always seem to find great restaurants for us to try in Denver.  I don't really want to go to a city like Denver and eat in a chain restaurant since at this point in time, Des Moines has all chain restaurants.  I don't think I've eaten in a restaurant in Denver that isn't bad.

Overall it was a great weekend.  We love skiing so much and we love hanging out with Nick and Kate.  Someday they will live close to us again, but I suppose going out to Denver to visit them isn't so bad.

This trip was the beginning of our busy lives coming up, but looking back, December was a great month.  We do our best to live life to the fullest and do everything we can.  We do not have kids yet, so might as well do as much as we can now, right?

More posts to come :)
