A Great Beach Read

I love good "beach reads" when I go on vacation.  A beach read to me would be something I can read really fast, doesn't take any thinking.  Also, there must be a romantic side to the story... I'm such a sucker for romance.  (Nicholas Sparks is my favorite author if that tells you anything...)

Nantucket Nights by Elin Hilderbrand is a great beach read.  I've read a few of this authors books, and they definitely all qualify.  All of her books take place on Nantucket Island.  I went there as a child, but I definitely want to go back after reading her books.

Three women gather once a year to go swimming at midnight, along with eating and drinking.  They all share a secret with each other that they don't tell anyone else.  During the 20th anniversary of this midnight gathering, one of the women disappears into the ocean.  Does she drown or does she run away?

While you are reading to find out if she drowned or ran away, you learn all these secrets about these three women and their families.  There were twists that kept me reading.   My family found it funny that I could not put it down when I was reading the last 100 pages.  It was quite intense.  I read it in 2 days, which to me was the perfect vacation read.  I can read it and move onto something that is just as good.

  1. What's your favorite Nicholas Sparks book? I've read many of his but need another good book to read similar to his style. Any ideas? Nothing too heavy... Thanks for sharing your love for reading! :)

  2. I must admit, I love all of Nicholas Sparks' books :) If you want something similar I recommend Elin Hilderbrand, Kristan Higgins, Kristin Hannah. I like all three of those authors.
