When my students ask me what my favorite food is, I tell them spaghetti. My mom's spaghetti sauce, to be more exact. My parents, grandma, and sister came over for a spaghetti dinner a few weekends ago before the Des Moines Marathon. I was out of my mom's sauce though... I could've made more or I could've tried a new recipe. I went for a new recipe... and it was pretty good, plus it cooked in the crock pot all day! How easy... Though, it was not quite as good as my mom's recipe :)
Crock pot Spaghetti Sauce
1 lb Ground Beef
1 medium Onion
28 oz Crushed Tomatoes
8 oz Tomato Sauce
6 oz Tomato Paste
1 T Brown Sugar
1 Bay Leaf
3 Garlic Cloves
2 tsp Oregano
2 tsp Basil
3/4 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Thyme
2 T Butter (I forgot to put this in...)
Season ground beef with salt and pepper, brown with minced onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Drain, then add to a large crock pot. Add all the ingredients except for the butter, stir to combine. Cook on low for 5-6 hours.
Remove bay leaves, stir in butter, serve over pasta.
**sorry for the not so great picture... I forgot to take a picture of the sauce on the noodles. That's OK though. Click on the linked recipe for a better picture via Iowa Girl Eats!
So delicious and VERY easy to make. Serve with some warm bread, a side salad, and Enjoy :)
