Rocky Mountain Adventure

So we have great friends who moved to Denver about a year ago, and yes we are still a little bitter they left us.  But at least they moved to such a fun place!!!  I love Colorado, and if things were to ever change and Chris and I were "forced" to move to Colorado, I would do it.  Temporarily of course, as we want to raise our family in Iowa.

Anyway!  We had a great visit.  We took it easy Friday when we got there because we knew we were going to do some serious hiking on Saturday.  Nick and Kate organized a hike for us to take up to the Continental Divide.  I don't need to explain.... here are the glorious pictures from the trip:

ps: Thank you Roosevelt!

We hiked to Pawnee Pass... which turned out to be more like 5 miles one way, not 4!

Gorgeous... I wish this was my backyard.

Surprise... Chris is stopping to stretch!

Where's Kate?  Where's Nick?

We made it!  Ha no!  We still have 3 miles to go!  STRAIGHT UP!

Yup, pretty excited I'm standing in snow while in a tshirt and short!  We all kept adding layers the higher up we went though...

About 3 hours after starting, we made it!  This picture doesn't even tell you how cold and how strong the wind is... it was crazy.  But totally worth the hike, gorgeous views all the way around.

About 7 hours after we started our hike... time to chow down!  This was easily gone within 5 minutes.

I feel as though all these people should move back to Des Moines.  So great seeing everyone :)
On Sunday, before we had to leave, I was pretty excited because my cousins and Uncle who live in CO Springs came up for lunch.  After lunch, Nick and Kate took us to Red Rocks.  If I lived in Denver, I'd workout at Red Rocks a few times a week.  Great stairs workout accompanied by a great view!
Right after Kate said "Pretend like you're at Red Rocks!"  haha
Who needs planking when you can "Owl" at Red Rocks?

It was such a great weekend and it went way too fast!  We wish Denver was closer so we could visit more often!! I would love to go hiking whenever and go skiing all the time in the winter-- that life would be great.  But Chris and I are happy in Des Moines and wouldn't change a thing.
