Finished another book...

Last week I was reading a book called The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman.  I only give it a 2 out of 5 stars.  I really truly enjoy historical fiction books, or non-fiction books written in story form.  And this book did just that, but I feel as though it could've been written so much better.  The author just didn't stay on topic and at times it was hard to remember what she was talking about.

It is a story that takes place in Poland during WWII.  It is such an interesting story because personally I did not really know what went on in Poland during WWII.  I'm sure during US History Class, my teacher touched on it briefly, but this helped me get a better picture of what happened and it really is such a sad story.  Now if you like reading about WWII, this might be the book for you.  It just wasn't my thing.

It is an interesting story about the wife of a zookeeper (obviously) and what she has to go through when Warsaw is bombed and eventually taken over by the Germans.  It really is a sad story and so sad, I just found it hard to follow.  I ended up not reading the last two chapters... and I rarely ever do that.

After I finished this book I decided I needed an easy, uplifting story.  I ended up reading a story called The Summer We Came to Life by Deborah Cloyed.  It is a story about 4 best friends and how they have always gone on summer vacations ever since they were little girls, and now they are almost 30.  When this story takes place, one of the friends has recently passed away, so they are unsure if they want to take the vacation this summer or not.  Uplifting, right?  It starts out sad, but it turns out better, trust me.  They go on quite the adventure in Honduras with the three women, two of the mothers, and two of the fathers.  I really love reading books and watching movies that include a bunch of different people.  Then, throughout the story you learn their personal stories and how all the people connect in a special way.  I'm not sure why I enjoy that type of story, but I do.  I could not put the book down... 4 out of 5 stars :)

Next up I'm reading  Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo.  I have heard many good things about this story... so we will see!
